If you’re looking for something with more features and tweaks, check out Dexpot, a popular third-party multi-desktop solution. It’s basic, but Desktops just works on any PC running XP or higher. Once it’s running, however, switching between multiple desktops is very smooth. You may also find that switching between desktops is a little slow the first time you do it, as it takes a second for each desktop to be created. Click the thumbnail for a space to open it. Follow these steps to create a new space: Enter Mission Control (swipe up with three or four fingers, press the Mission Control key, or press Control-Up Arrow). The program also won’t remember what you had open on each desktop once you shut down. Apple refers to additional desktops as spaces and programs as apps. You can’t drag-and-drop windows from one desktop to the next. After you set up multiple desktop spaces, you can assign an application to appear on one or all of your desktops when it opens. There are no animations to signal that you’ve switched between desktops. To switch between multiple desktops, click the Mission Control icon in the Dock and select the preferred desktop in the Spaces bar that appears at the top of the screen. Keep in mind this is a very basic program. That’s about all there is to installing Desktops. This will download a ZIP file to your PC. Once in this pane, you’ll see the second monitor you’ve connected your Mac to. How to go multi-desktop First, download Sysinternals Desktops v2.0 directly from Microsoft’s TechNet site. Go to Apple menu > System Preferences > Displays. (Windows 10 will support unlimited virtual desktops.) You can also switch by clicking on the Desktops icon in your system tray. Connect the monitor to your MacBook and turn it on. As for the hotkeys, personally I stuck with the defaults of Alt plus numbers 1,2,3,4 for each desktop-the app supports four desktops, the standard on Mac and Linux.
